Automatic centralized lubrication systems start from the premise of using a smaller amount of lubricant applied more often. This approach aims to keep the lubricant film constant and uniform at friction points on moving parts. 

The main benefits of this approach are reduced lubricant consumption (only the amount needed to maintain the film is applied, minimizing waste) and less wear on moving and contact parts (due to the constant presence of lubricant film between them and reduced friction). Other indirect benefits of this approach are less environmental impact, improved employee safety (they are not exposed to the physical risks inherent to lubricant application) and greater control over the lubrication process.
